Dr. Kamaria Catalan, Veterinarian/Owner

Dr. Kamaria Catalan is the proud owner and visionary behind Rover The Rhine Veterinary Hospital, her second passion project which she built from the ground up seven years ago. Known affectionately as the "Boss Lady" and "Head Honcho," Dr. Catalan is dedicated to fostering strong, collaborative relationships with pet parents and advocating for the welfare of pets. Her commitment to ethical practice and providing the highest level of care shines through in every aspect of her work. Dr. Catalan is a powerhouse of a veterinarian - Her impressive credentials include serving as the president of both the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association and the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Foundation. She is also a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the National Association of Black Veterinarians, and the Black DVM Network.

Dr. Catalan's academic journey began at Howard University, where she majored in Zoology with a minor in Chemistry, graduating with honors in 1992. She then attended Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1996. An interesting highlight from her collegiate career is delivering her first son on graduation day—a memorable way to celebrate her achievements!

Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Catalan was motivated by her love of animals from an early age. She started volunteering at a veterinary hospital at just 14 years old, which propelled her into various high school jobs at vet clinics and ultimately led to her successful veterinary career. Dr. Catalan shares her life with five pets: a very old cockatiel, a cat named Cassius, a beautiful German Shepherd named Angel, a handsome Standard Poodle named Prosper, and a tyrannical new Miniature Poodle named Little Seymore. Beyond her professional life, Dr. Catalan is a creative soul who loves art and music. She finds fulfillment in veterinary medicine when she can exercise her imagination, holistic thinking, intuition, and nonverbal cues, making her a unique and excellent practitioner and surgeon. She is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Her dedication to her practice and her community is evident in her daily work, where she finds joy in seeing a pet’s life improve under her care and witnessing the happiness of pet owners who trust her with their beloved animals.
